Abraham Brown Chapter, SAR

New KentHistoricalService

New Kent chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution, part of the Virginia Society. Named for Abraham Brown, a free man of color in Charles City County who supplied Revolutionary forces. Chartered February 2026 with 24 members, five of them Brown descendants. Members preserve Revolutionary history through grave markings, color guard ceremonies, and youth awards.

How to join
Membership is open to men 18 and older who can document lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution. Details are on the website.
