Louisa post of the American Legion, Post 116. Part of the Thirteenth District of the Department of Virginia. Chartered in fall 1920 with 24 members; a contemporary 1924 Legion history records the post had already processed roughly 250 veterans' disability-compensation claims for local ex-servicemen by that year. It has no hall of its own today and meets at a restaurant. Reported 93 members to the Department in June 2026. Members are wartime veterans who support fellow veterans and their families, run youth and Americanism programs, and take part in community service.
