Madison post of the American Legion, Post 157. Part of the Thirteenth District of the Department of Virginia. Chartered in 1937, the post's hall seats 200 with a stage, dance floor, and 150 chairs (plus a separate picnic pavilion for up to 150), and it runs a youth Hot Wheels program alongside Boys State/Girls State scholarships and a Marksman Youth Shooting Sports Team. The post rents its hall out. Reported 99 members to the Department in June 2026. Members are wartime veterans who support fellow veterans and their families, run youth and Americanism programs, and take part in community service.

How to join
Membership is open to veterans who served on active duty during a recognised war era and were honourably discharged, and to those still serving. Details are on the post website.
