Fairfax post of the American Legion, Post 177. Part of the Seventeenth District of the Department of Virginia. Held its annual Flag Disposal Ceremony on Flag Day 2026, respectfully retiring hundreds of worn and unserviceable American flags with help from the Legion Family and community volunteers, and welcomed veterans of the season's final Honor Flight (the Kansas Honor Flight) on June 3, 2026. The post rents its hall out. Reported 898 members to the Department in June 2026. Members are wartime veterans who support fellow veterans and their families, run youth and Americanism programs, and take part in community service.

How to join
Membership is open to veterans who served on active duty during a recognised war era and were honourably discharged, and to those still serving. Details are on the post website.
