American Legion Post 1776

Williamsburg post of the American Legion, Post 1776, known as the Colonial Post. Part of the Third District of the Department of Virginia. Has no hall of its own; meets inside VFW Post 4639's building, and posted an Independence Day tribute video this year using the National Legion's America250 campaign hashtags. Reported 63 members to the Department in June 2026. Members are wartime veterans who support fellow veterans and their families, run youth and Americanism programs, and take part in community service.
