Haymarket post of the American Legion, Post 1799. Part of the Sixteenth District of the Department of Virginia. Meets at Giuseppi's restaurant in Haymarket rather than an owned post hall, and holds an informal weekly Thursday-morning social gathering at an IHOP in nearby Gainesville. Reported 184 members to the Department in June 2026. Members are wartime veterans who support fellow veterans and their families, run youth and Americanism programs, and take part in community service.

Schedule: 4th Saturday of the month at 10:00 AM per the Department roster; the district locator says 4th Saturday of every OTHER month

How to join
Membership is open to veterans who served on active duty during a recognised war era and were honourably discharged, and to those still serving. Details are on the post website.
