Lovettsville post of the American Legion, Post 1836. Part of the Sixteenth District of the Department of Virginia. Named for the year the town of Lovettsville was founded (1836) rather than for a person, making it one of the few American Legion posts named after a date instead of a fallen or honored member; chartered June 18, 2018 at a ceremony attended by then-U.S. Rep. Barbara Comstock, making it one of the youngest posts in the district. Reported 62 members to the Department in June 2026. Members are wartime veterans who support fellow veterans and their families, run youth and Americanism programs, and take part in community service.
