Harrisonburg post of the American Legion, Post 188. Part of the Fourteenth District of the Department of Virginia. Operates as 'American Legion Shenandoah Valley Post 188'; its banquet room at 350 Waterman Drive is used as a public event venue and is listed as a location by local radio station 96.9 WSIG's community calendar. The post rents its hall out. Reported 152 members to the Department in June 2026. Members are wartime veterans who support fellow veterans and their families, run youth and Americanism programs, and take part in community service.

How to join
Membership is open to veterans who served on active duty during a recognised war era and were honourably discharged, and to those still serving. Details are on the post website.
