American Legion Post 190

Portsmouth post of the American Legion, Post 190, known as the Sergeant William H. Harrison Post. Part of the Second District of the Department of Virginia. Named for a Portsmouth native, SSgt William H. Harrison, killed in action with the 366th Infantry Regiment in Italy during WWII; its American Legion Riders Post 190 chapter has 490+ Facebook followers and was active as recently as a few months before this research (2026 officer-installation post). Reported 231 members to the Department in June 2026. Members are wartime veterans who support fellow veterans and their families, run youth and Americanism programs, and take part in community service.
