American Legion Post 20

Bland post of the American Legion, Post 20, known as the Miller T. Burton Post. Part of the Seventh District of the Department of Virginia. Named for Miller T. Burton of Bastian, VA (US Army serial no. 2467681, Company H, 317th Infantry, WWI), the post has held a continuous charter since August 1928, each fall raffles a rifle as its largest annual fundraiser, and maintains a memorial-brick program at the Bland County Veterans Memorial. Reported 42 members to the Department in June 2026. Members are wartime veterans who support fellow veterans and their families, run youth and Americanism programs, and take part in community service.
