Ashburn post of the American Legion, Post 2001, known as the Leonard W. Kidd Post. Part of the Sixteenth District of the Department of Virginia. Runs a Family Support Network providing emergency financial assistance to local veterans and makes annual donations to the Boulder Crest Retreat for wounded veterans in nearby Bluemont. Reported 131 members to the Department in June 2026. Members are wartime veterans who support fellow veterans and their families, run youth and Americanism programs, and take part in community service.

How to join
Membership is open to veterans who served on active duty during a recognised war era and were honourably discharged, and to those still serving. Details are on the post website.
