Poquoson post of the American Legion, Post 273, known as the Holloway Moore Post. Part of the Third District of the Department of Virginia. Named for Robert R. Holloway and Harold M. Moore, the first Poquoson residents killed in action in WWI and WWII respectively; the post organized in Messick, VA after WWII to serve Poquoson and all of York County. Reported 124 members to the Department in June 2026. Members are wartime veterans who support fellow veterans and their families, run youth and Americanism programs, and take part in community service.

How to join
Membership is open to veterans who served on active duty during a recognised war era and were honourably discharged, and to those still serving. Contact the post by email for details.
