American Legion Post 3

Salem post of the American Legion, Post 3, known as the Post 3 – Roanoke Post. Part of the Ninth District of the Department of Virginia. Chartered in 1919. The post's 16-acre Salem property doubles as an event venue, offering a ballroom with kitchen, stage, and dance floor plus an outdoor pavilion for weddings and private rentals, alongside a weekly walk-in VA claims clinic and a $10,000 Eagle Scout of the Year scholarship. The post rents its hall out. Reported 242 members to the Department in June 2026. Members are wartime veterans who support fellow veterans and their families, run youth and Americanism programs, and take part in community service.
