American Legion Post 30

Radford post of the American Legion, Post 30, known as the Post 30 – Harvey-Howe-Carper Post. Part of the Ninth District of the Department of Virginia. Chartered in 1919. Named for three young Radford men killed in World War One (Alfred Harvey, Elliott H. Howe, and Jake Carper), the post once ranked among Virginia's three largest Legion posts and occupied a landmark stone building built in 1928 on Radford's Main Street before its meetings relocated to the VFW post home at 102 Watts St. Reported 18 members to the Department in June 2026. Members are wartime veterans who support fellow veterans and their families, run youth and Americanism programs, and take part in community service.
