Berryville post of the American Legion, Post 41, known as the Lloyd Williams Post. Part of the Fifteenth District of the Department of Virginia. Chartered in 1919. Named for Capt. Lloyd W. Williams, the Berryville-born Marine officer who reportedly answered 'Retreat, hell! We just got here' at Belleau Wood before dying of his wounds nine days later in June 1918; the post partners with Clarke County Memorial VFW Post 9760 each year on Capt. Lloyd Williams Day and the county's Memorial Day service. Reported 124 members to the Department in June 2026. Members are wartime veterans who support fellow veterans and their families, run youth and Americanism programs, and take part in community service.

How to join
Membership is open to veterans who served on active duty during a recognised war era and were honourably discharged, and to those still serving. Contact the post by email for details.
