Chase City post of the American Legion, Post 43. Part of the Fifth District of the Department of Virginia. Chartered Sept. 23, 1919 (first meeting Oct. 4, 1919) by founders R.E. Williams and Goode D. Reynolds with 15 members; grew to 240 members within four years under Commander T. Whit Greer Jr., at the time the second-largest Legion post membership in Virginia, and was historically active in cemetery upkeep and establishing a public park in Chase City. Reported 53 members to the Department in June 2026. Members are wartime veterans who support fellow veterans and their families, run youth and Americanism programs, and take part in community service.
