Alexandria post of the American Legion, Post 44, known as the Unknown Soldier Post. Part of the Seventeenth District of the Department of Virginia. One of the smallest posts in the district (30 total members per the district's own July 2026 report) but the highest membership-goal achiever researched in this sweep, at 130.43% of its 2025-26 renewal goal. Reported 30 members to the Department in June 2026. Members are wartime veterans who support fellow veterans and their families, run youth and Americanism programs, and take part in community service.

How to join
Membership is open to veterans who served on active duty during a recognised war era and were honourably discharged, and to those still serving. Call the post for details.
