Brookneal post of the American Legion, Post 52. Part of the Tenth District of the Department of Virginia. Maintains an active Ladies Auxiliary in Brookneal, cited by name in several local obituaries (Finch & Finch and Henderson funeral homes) as members' home post. Reported 16 members to the Department in June 2026. Members are wartime veterans who support fellow veterans and their families, run youth and Americanism programs, and take part in community service.

How to join
Membership is open to veterans who served on active duty during a recognised war era and were honourably discharged, and to those still serving. Contact the post by email for details.
