Bedford post of the American Legion, Post 54, known as the Board-Canady Post. Part of the Tenth District of the Department of Virginia. Organized 2026's 'Bedford Remembers' parade marking America's 250th anniversary, drawing more than 70 local groups and roughly 600 participants, and was chartered September 23, 1919. Reported 95 members to the Department in June 2026. Members are wartime veterans who support fellow veterans and their families, run youth and Americanism programs, and take part in community service.

How to join
Membership is open to veterans who served on active duty during a recognised war era and were honourably discharged, and to those still serving. Details are on the post website.
