Christiansburg post of the American Legion, Post 59, known as the Post 59 – Montgomery County Post. Part of the Ninth District of the Department of Virginia. Each year the post joins the Christiansburg VFW Post 5311 to clean the Audie Murphy Memorial, which marks the 1971 plane crash site of America's most decorated soldier of World War Two. Reported 98 members to the Department in June 2026. Members are wartime veterans who support fellow veterans and their families, run youth and Americanism programs, and take part in community service.

How to join
Membership is open to veterans who served on active duty during a recognised war era and were honourably discharged, and to those still serving. Contact the post by email for details.
