Lawrenceville post of the American Legion, Post 65. Part of the Fifth District of the Department of Virginia. Named for Fort Christanna, built in 1714 under Lt. Gov. Alexander Spotswood to protect and educate the tributary Siouan and Iroquoian tribes southwest of colonial Virginia; the fort site sits about two miles south of Lawrenceville off Route 46/Christanna Highway. Reported 22 members to the Department in June 2026. Members are wartime veterans who support fellow veterans and their families, run youth and Americanism programs, and take part in community service.

How to join
Membership is open to veterans who served on active duty during a recognised war era and were honourably discharged, and to those still serving. Call the post for details.
