American Legion Post 73

Franklin post of the American Legion, Post 73, known as the Charles R. Younts Post. Part of the Fourth District of the Department of Virginia. Runs Boys State and Girls State send-offs each June, puts out flags along Franklin's streets on state and national holidays, and holds two community fish fries a year as its main fundraiser. Reported 38 members to the Department in June 2026. Members are wartime veterans who support fellow veterans and their families, run youth and Americanism programs, and take part in community service.

How to join
Membership is open to veterans who served on active duty during a recognised war era and were honourably discharged, and to those still serving. Reach the post through its Facebook page.
