American Legion Post 85

Arlington post of the American Legion, Post 85, known as the General Billy Mitchell Post. Part of the Seventeenth District of the Department of Virginia. Named for General Billy Mitchell, the early-20th-century military aviation pioneer court-martialed for his outspoken advocacy of air power, and runs a Youth Cadet Law Enforcement Academy alongside its Boys State and Girls State sponsorships. Reported 103 members to the Department in June 2026. Members are wartime veterans who support fellow veterans and their families, run youth and Americanism programs, and take part in community service.
