American Legion Post 86

Kilmarnock post of the American Legion, Post 86, known as the Adams Post. Part of the Twelfth District of the Department of Virginia. Chartered in 1919 for Robert Dunaway Adams of White Stone, killed in France in World War I; the post's territory historically covered all of Lancaster County and parts of the adjoining counties, and it now also fields an active American Legion Riders (ALR) chapter. Reported 44 members to the Department in June 2026. Members are wartime veterans who support fellow veterans and their families, run youth and Americanism programs, and take part in community service.

How to join
Membership is open to veterans who served on active duty during a recognised war era and were honourably discharged, and to those still serving. Details are on the post website.
