American Legion Post 87

Amelia post of the American Legion, Post 87, known as the Amelia County Post. Part of the Eleventh District of the Department of Virginia. Sponsors an annual Veterans Day flag-placement program at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Amelia, placing an American flag on every grave; in 2025 Amelia Academy students joined Legion members and other community volunteers in the effort. Reported 47 members to the Department in June 2026. Members are wartime veterans who support fellow veterans and their families, run youth and Americanism programs, and take part in community service.
