American Legion Post 88

Suffolk post of the American Legion, Post 88, known as the Nansemond Post. Part of the Fourth District of the Department of Virginia. Chartered in 2009. Holds an annual charity golf tournament at Sleepy Hole Golf Course in Suffolk — the 18th edition is scheduled for September 17, 2026 — benefiting Legion veterans and community projects. Reported 60 members to the Department in June 2026. Members are wartime veterans who support fellow veterans and their families, run youth and Americanism programs, and take part in community service.

How to join
Membership is open to veterans who served on active duty during a recognised war era and were honourably discharged, and to those still serving. Details are on the post website.
