Fort Nelson Chapter, NSDAR

Portsmouth chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, part of District I of the Virginia state society. Organized May 9, 1896, the tenth DAR chapter formed in Virginia. Its 1935 chapter house was Virginia's first purpose-built DAR chapter house. The chapter serves its community through historic preservation, education, and patriotic work.

Schedule: First Thursday morning of the month, September through June
How to join
Membership is open to women 18 and older who can document lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution. Membership details are on the chapter website.
