GFWC Bent Mountain Woman's Club

Woman's club serving Bent Mountain in Roanoke County. Chartered in 1949. Founded the Bent Mountain Library in 1961 (in the old firehouse building) and helped fund the community's first volunteer rescue squad and fire department in 1963; today awards the Mary Patterson Memorial Scholarship ($1,000) and runs a Books for Bearcats book drive for Highland View Elementary. The General Federation of Women's Clubs is a volunteer service organization founded in 1890, and GFWC Virginia federates its clubs across eight districts of the Commonwealth.
