Herndon Fortnightly Woman's Club

Fairfax CountyServiceSocial

Woman's club serving Fairfax County. Founded Fairfax County's first lending library in 1889 and ran it as an all-volunteer operation into the 1970s. The building is now a Fairfax County Public Library branch that still carries the club's name, and the club still meets there. It calls itself the oldest women's club in GFWC Virginia. The General Federation of Women's Clubs is a volunteer service organization founded in 1890, and GFWC Virginia federates its clubs across eight districts of the Commonwealth.
