Newport News council of the Knights of Columbus, known as Walter Pollard Council 5480. Instituted in 1963. Operates its own Columbian Center hall with regular bingo (Mon/Thu) and open nights (Fri); named for Sir Knight J. Walter Pollard, who drove the creation of Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish in 1953. Members carry out charitable work, support their parish, and raise funds for community causes.

Membership is open to practising Catholic men aged 18 and over. Details are on the council website.
