L & J Gardens

Neighborhood association for L & J Gardens, in Virginia Beach. L & J Gardens was laid out in 1946 as one of the few subdivisions open to Black families under segregation, and the civic league carried its case for the Virginia Landmarks Register in 2022. Civic leagues are how Virginia Beach neighborhoods organize, and the city publishes them as the way to reach each neighborhood.
