Montpelier Ruritan Club

Ruritan club serving Montpelier in Hanover County. Chartered December 7, 1949 with 33 charter members, sponsored by the Hanover Ruritan Club. Runs spring and fall Brunswick stew fundraisers and a Super Bowl-weekend chili fundraiser, builds handicap ramps and repairs roofs for residents in need, and gives college scholarships to Patrick Henry High School seniors. Celebrated its 75th anniversary August 7, 2024, though membership has shrunk to about 10 active members from 30-50 in past decades. Ruritan is a rural and small-town service organization founded in Holland, Virginia in 1928, built on fellowship, goodwill and community service.
