South Boston-Halifax JWC

Woman's club serving Halifax County. A junior club, the federation's tier for younger adult members. Chartered in 1951. Annual Halloween Carnival (its major fundraiser, supporting community projects and food collection) and an Annual Spring Carnival/Easter egg hunt at Cotton Mill Park on the Tobacco Heritage Trailhead; also sells refreshments during productions at The Prizery theater in South Boston. The General Federation of Women's Clubs is a volunteer service organization founded in 1890, and GFWC Virginia federates its clubs across eight districts of the Commonwealth.
