Woman's club serving Essex County. Organized 1923 as the Social Betterment Club at Rose Hill, Center Cross; federated with GFWC in 1924. Restored and has maintained the 1808 Clerk's Office on the courthouse green since 1927 (which also housed Essex County's first public library from 1930, later opened to the public in 1938); awarded $106,000 in scholarships in 2025 alone, and over $549,000 since starting its scholarship program in 1982. The General Federation of Women's Clubs is a volunteer service organization founded in 1890, and GFWC Virginia federates its clubs across eight districts of the Commonwealth.
