Newport News post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 176, known as the Wilkins-Edwards Post. Part of District 1 of the Department of Virginia. Its senior muster date is 30 April 1920. Post 5500 of Hampton consolidated into it in May 2026. The post rents its hall out. Members are veterans of overseas service who support fellow veterans and their families, run the Voice of Democracy and Patriot's Pen youth essay contests, and take part in community service.

How to join
Membership is open to United States veterans and serving members who earned a campaign medal for overseas service, served in Korea, or received hostile fire or imminent danger pay. Call the post for details.
