Alexandria post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 609, known as the Russell Mitchell Post. Part of District 10 of the Department of Virginia. Members are veterans of overseas service who support fellow veterans and their families, run the Voice of Democracy and Patriot's Pen youth essay contests, and take part in community service.

How to join
Membership is open to United States veterans and serving members who earned a campaign medal for overseas service, served in Korea, or received hostile fire or imminent danger pay. Call the post for details.
