Mineral post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 8947, known as the Louisa County Post. Part of District 13 of the Department of Virginia. The post runs a canteen, provides military funeral honors and rents its hall out. Members are veterans of overseas service who support fellow veterans and their families, run the Voice of Democracy and Patriot's Pen youth essay contests, and take part in community service.

How to join
Membership is open to United States veterans and serving members who earned a campaign medal for overseas service, served in Korea, or received hostile fire or imminent danger pay. Details are on the post website.
