Wesley Chapel at Clover Hill Village

Appomattox
Address: 5747 River Ridge Road, Appomattox, Virginia 24522
Rental space(s): Wesley Chapel (1828), Village grounds

Wesley Chapel is a small church built in 1828 and used for worship until 1939. In 1991 the Appomattox County Historical Society moved it to Clover Hill Village, the Society's living-history village three miles east of Appomattox, where it is rented for weddings and other private occasions. The chapel keeps its original pews, podium and communion rail, its oil-burning chandeliers, and a pump organ that still plays. Around it are six acres of village: a general store, a log cabin, a one-room school, a blacksmith shop and a reconstruction of Civil War winter quarters. Some of these buildings were moved from elsewhere in the county; others are reproductions. The village is open from April to October, Friday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
