Richmond
Address: 122 West Leigh Street, Richmond, Virginia 23220
Capacity: About 150 seated
Rental space(s): Dominion Energy Community Room, Cafe area, First-floor galleries, Second-floor galleries, Outdoor terrace

The Black History Museum & Cultural Center of Virginia rents its galleries, community room and terrace for dinners, receptions, screenings and meetings. The museum occupies the Leigh Street Armory in Jackson Ward, which the city built in 1895 for the First Battalion Virginia Volunteers, a Black militia unit. The building later served as a school and, during the Second World War, as a center for Black soldiers. The museum moved in after a restoration in 2016. About 6,000 square feet is available indoors: the first- and second-floor galleries, a cafe area, and the Dominion Energy Community Room, which has the building's only projection screen. There is also an outdoor terrace. Tables, about 150 chairs, black linens, a sound system and Wi-Fi come with the rental. Bookings go through Events on Leigh, the museum's own events service, which runs a full bar and keeps a list of preferred caterers. Parking is free on the street and in two nearby lots.
