Glendale Ruritan Club

The Glendale Ruritan Club has met in Varina, in eastern Henrico County, since 1953, and members of the community can rent its hall on Charles City Road. The main room is a large hall with wood-paneled walls and a raised stage at one end. Folding tables and chairs are kept on racks. A kitchen with stainless prep tables, a range and an ice machine opens onto the hall through a serving window, and there is a playground outside. A rental day runs from 8 a.m. to midnight, and the renter leaves the building clean and locked. Renters must live in the community and be at least 25, and commercial events need the board's approval. The club has no dumpster, so renters take their trash with them.
