The Perkinson Center for the Arts and Education in the village of Chester rents its theater and smaller rooms for private events. Chesterfield County voters approved bond money for an arts center in 2004, and the $17 million building opened in 2021. The Jimmy Dean Theater seats 350 and has a 35-by-36-foot stage, dressing rooms and a green room. The Education Center, a 1,250-square-foot room with a catering kitchen and a projector, opens onto a patio. The art gallery holds 26 people and the classroom 15, and the Panchita Cline Patio looks over the Village Green. For up to six hours, a renter can take the whole 20,800-square-foot building. The center schedules rentals around its own performances, classes and exhibitions.
